Obituary:

Pastor Benjamin McClinton, Jr. beloved father, grandfather, brother, uncle passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 6, 2019.
Benjamin was born on December 4, 1924, to the late, Benjamin and Queen Esther (Moore) McClinton in Cane Creek, Oklahoma. He was the second child born to their union.
At an early age, he united with Cane Creek Missionary Baptist Church and was baptized. He attended Cane Creek High School and then joined the United States Army at an early age where he severed from March 11, 1943, until November 26, 1945, where he received an honorable discharge.
He moved to Detroit, Michigan and later married Willie Mae to their union, a daughter was born.
Pastor attended Detroit Bible College, American Baptist College in Nashville Tennessee and LaSalle College in Chicago, Illinois. He was called to the Ministry in November of 1969, he was licensed and ordained by the late Reverend Brown, his Pastor of First Baptist Church in Ecorse, Michigan. He was called to Pastor the Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church in August 1971. Pastor McClinton was a faithful and devoted Pastor to Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church for 46 years.
His motto was “Love” and he was a living example of love. He was a great listener and counselor, giving, biblical advisor, and a great songster and teacher of the word of God. He was faithful in visiting and ministering to the sick and shut in. Pastor loved reading and memorizing the Bible, he could quote scriptures word for word. He also loved going to Detroit and ministerial conferences where he would faithfully go every Tuesday and Port Huron the first Saturday of the month. He enjoyed fellowshipping with members after Sunday morning worship at Cracker Barrel restaurant.
We are thankful to God for letting such a great man of God touch our lives and the lives of the community. We have been richer for having Pastor Ben McClinton in our lives, to God be the Glory.
He leaves to cherish his memories, a brother, Pastor J.C. McClinton and a sister, Marva Rie Stockton, of Los Angeles, CA; three grandchildren, Brandi, Rhonda and Anthony; ten great-grandchildren, of Detroit, Michigan; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends; two spiritual sons, Pastor Carl E. Miller, Sr. and Thomas Merrithweather; one spiritual daughter, Sabrina Nichlos and two goddaughters, C.C. and Angelquie.
Preceding him in death, his wife, Willie Mae McClinton; a daughter, Delores McClinton; granddaughter, Robin Abraham; siblings, Earnest, R.C., O.G., Rosco, Otto, Darnell, Ester Lee, Verdell, and Waverleen.
The family honors the memory of Reverend Ben McClinton and invites you to visit and share memories on Friday, March 15, 2019, from 12:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Mt. Olive Baptist Church.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 16, 2019, at 11:00 a.m. at Restoration Christian Community Church. Reverend Carl Miller will officiate. Visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m.
Interment will follow in Allied Veterans Cemetery under the Auspices of the St. Clair County Allied Veteran Honor Guard. For guest book and information, smithfamilyfuneralhome.com.
