Obituary:
Noble L. Neff, 70 of Port Huron Twp., passed away unexpectedly of natural causes in St. Joseph Mercy Hospital on Friday, March 12, 2010. He was born March 8, 1940 in Granite City, IL.

Noble served six years in the U.S. Navy where he was stationed aboard the U.S.S. Caloosahatchee. He was a machinist by trade, working for Port Huron Towing and later for New Haven Foundry until his retirement. On June 17, 1972, he married Aleen Wendell in Port Huron.

Noble enjoyed running machinery, racing cars, and riding his motorcycle. He also liked to tinker on cars and work in his garden. He especially loved to build and drive tractors for various tractor pulling events. . He was always very proud to have raised five sons who were all in the service and who all came home

Noble is survived by his wife of nearly 38 years, Aleen E. Neff; six children, Clarence J. “Butch” (Margo) Wendell of Kimball, Henry P. Wendell of Jacksonville, FL, Norman L. (Patricia) Wendell of Smiths Creek, Carl J. Wendell of Port Huron, Valeen “Dolly” (Deano) Ruther of Indianola, IA, and Cynthia V. (Kevin) Babcock of Burtchville; several grand and great grandchildren; a brother, Laurient “Larry” (Joice) Noud and two sisters, Madelyn Neff & Marilyn Atkins. He was preceded in death by a son, Denton J. Wendell.

Visitation will be on Thursday, March 18, 2010 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in Smith Family Funeral Home-South, 1230 Seventh St. The funeral service will be in the funeral home on Friday at 1:00 p.m. preceded by one hour of visitation. The St. Clair County Allied Veterans Council will provide military honors.
