Name: A. Alvin Lane Date: March 13th, 2010 Obituary: A. Alvin Lane, 91, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 13, 2010, at Port Huron Hospital following a short illness. He was born December 3, 1918, in Port Huron. Alvin was the son of the late James and Agnes Lane. On June 6, 1946, he married Lillian M. Hastings in Toledo, Ohio. Mrs. Lane passed away January 11, 1986, while they were vacationing in Florida. Alvin and his late wife Lillian owned and operated Alvin Lane Construction for 40 years. He took great pride in the many beautiful homes he built in the Port Huron area. Alvin was a true perfectionist in all aspects of his life. He enjoyed traveling extensively, hunting trips with family and friends, and most importantly spending time with his family. His unending energy, positive attitude, and zest for life were an inspiration for all who knew him. He is survived by his daughter Janet Lane Barrett (Jim Earley) of Port Huron; two sisters, Lenora Osborn of Applegate and June Hitchings of Port Huron; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife, Alvin was preceded in death by one sister, Irene Miller; and four brothers, Howard, Bob, George and Harold Lane. Visitation will be on Tuesday, March 16, 2010 in Smith Family Funeral Home-North, 1525 Hancock St. The funeral service will be in the funeral home on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. preceded by one hour of visitation. Mary Ann Stackpoole will officiate. Burial will follow in Lakeside Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Bob Lane, Jim Osborn, Mark Scheffler, and Matt Earley.
