Obituary

LaVerne Joseph Gorinac

90, of Port Huron, passed away on Sunday, November 8, 2020, at his home.

He was born in Port Huron, Michigan on August 5, 1930, son of the late Joseph and Julia (Zepelzauer) Gorinac.

LaVerne served his country with the United States Army in the Korean war.

Laverne married Joye Lou Maynard on July 30, 1960, in Port Huron.

LaVerne's loved hunting, fishing, and being outdoors. He raised beagles and was the president of The Oakland Beagle Club for many years. LaVerne was a Boy Scout troop leader for over 35 years. He loved helping others and volunteered for many different causes. He made maple syrup. LaVerne enjoyed spending time at his family cabin in Glennie. Most importantly, he valued most, spending time with his family.

Surviving in addition to Joye his loving wife of 60 years are his children, Traci (Gerald) Roberts of St. Clair, Lindi (David) Denny of Columbus, Lori (Mark) Nabozny of Port Huron, Jim (Rebecca) Gorinac of Clyde Township; 16 grandchildren, Mac, Nathan, Bradshaw, Gus, Sean, Michael, Nicole, Matthew, Colby, Jacob, Nicholas, Maci, Madi, Tim, Caitlin, and Aidan; niece, Holli (John) Hilliker; and nephew, Howard (Lisa) Mullen.

He was preceded in death by his brother, James Gorinac.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, November 14, 2020, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Smith Family Funeral Home-Hancock Street. Funeral services will begin at 12:00 p.m. Graveside services and interment will follow at Lakeside Cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to Boy Scout Troop #168 or Mid City Nutrition.
