Obituary

Marilyn Mae Milton Snider, a daring and beautiful post-WWII bride, lived most of her life and raised her family in Port Huron. Devoted to raising her five children, nothing else that she did ever truly competed with her joy of being a mother. Marilyn cherished her children and grandchildren. She traveled across town and across the country as often as possible to have time with them. Every child and every grandchild had special days when Marilyn would treat just them to new experiences.

Marilyn was a very sensitive and a very kind woman. She could not bear to think of a child suffering. And, of course, adults are simply children who have grown older. So, Marilyn never, ever gave up on a person she loved. No matter what. No matter how long. She was always there for us with her unconditional love.

Marilyn was creative and industrious. She transformed houses into loving homes. Sacrifices were made for her children to have the best that she could provide. Children were snuggled, loved and sung to day after day. Marilyn was a brave and strong woman who loved deeply and who was loved deeply in return. Her children cherished her and will forever cherish her memory. Marilyn was a wonderful human being. She had flaws as all humans do, but those minor flaws were far outweighed by the gentleness of her soul and the goodness of her heart. We all should hope to be measured as well as her.

Marilyn Mae Milton was born on May 13, 1930 in Boyne City, Michigan to Harry Milton and Velma Crouterfield Milton as their youngest child, joining big brother Keith and big sister Lou Ann, and later, sister Margaret.

She birthed and raised Rob, Randy, Debbie, Jeff, and Cathy. Who, in turn and over time, married and brought grandchildren into her life. Samantha and David. Randy and Johnny. Janice and Jonathan. Gabe, Bethany, Emily, Michael, Elizabeth, Eli and Logan. Colin, Evan and Ian. Mom loved all of us. She loved our spouses and partners. Judy, Dee, Tim, Julie and Rich and was happy for us and them.

On February 28, 2020, after a brief illness, and with Debbie at her side, Marilyn passed serenely. We cry for having lost her but we are most grateful for her release into the eternal peace she so richly deserves. Mom, we love you and will forever remember your love for us.
