Obituary

77, of Kimball Township, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt, passed away suddenly on Monday, December 23, 2019, at Henry Ford Hospital and is now healthy and happy in Heaven with our Lord and Savior.

Sharon was born on March 4, 1942, in Port Huron, Michigan, daughter of the late Kenneth and Edith (Wilson) Shanks.

Sharon married Bert Harold Porter on June 18, 1960, in Port Huron, Michigan and he preceded her in death on September 25, 1993.

Sharon enjoyed having her family at her home swimming. She liked going to the casino, watching Hallmark Movies, and spending time with her grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by her son Timothy Porter and her brother in law Dennis McMahon.

Sharon is survived by her four children Margaret "Pixie" (Mike) Freeman of Fort Gratiot, Thomas (Kelly) Porter of Marysville, Deborah Porter of Fort Gratiot, and Christina (Brandon) Tacie of Fort Gratiot, 14 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, brother Byron (Susan) Shanks of Port Huron, sister Linda McMahon of Sarnia, Ontario, and several nieces and nephews.

The family honors the memory of Sharon and invites you to visit and share memories on Saturday, December 28, 2019, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Smith Family Funeral Home-Hancock Street. A funeral service will begin at 12:00 p.m. Reverend Max Amstutz will officiate. Interment will take place at Caswell Cemetery in Kimball Township.

Pallbearers for Sharon will be her grandsons.

Memorials may be made to "Wishes of the Family."

I remember her being there for baseball games for the St. Clair County Road Commission Employees. Sitting next to my mom and dad cheering on all of us. Bright smiles, warm laughter, tender heart. Prayers and hugs are with all of you. --Carole Owrns
