Obituary for Wanita Jane Fleming (Hill)

Wanita Jane Fleming

65, of Capac, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, August 30, 2022.

Wanita was born in Almont, Michigan on September 10, 1956, the daughter of Earl and Evelyn (See) Hill.

She was baptized at St. John's Lutheran Church in Capac, Michigan. She confirmed her faith at Holy Redeemer Lutheran Church in Dryden, Michigan in 1972. She graduated class of 1976 at Capac High School.

Wanita married Charles J. Fleming Jr. on July 17, 1976, at Holy Redeemer Lutheran Church in Dryden, Michigan.

Wanita was an active life member of Imlay City VFW Auxiliary #2492. She especially enjoyed spending quality time with her family and friends playing cards, Dominos, going to BINGO, and the casino. She loved traveling whenever possible. Wanita's grandchildren were the love of her life and a bright light that gave meaning to her life. Her 7 kitty fur babies gave her immense joy and comfort.

Surviving in addition to her husband, Charles are her children, Evelyn (James) Machleid of Imlay City and Charles E. (Tiffany) Fleming of Brockway; grandchildren, Lilliana, Tristan, and Derrik; great-granddaughter, Emma; siblings, Diana (Jim) Coomer of Imlay City and Margaret Bakewell of Clinton Township; as well as many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Evelyn Hill; infant daughter, Amanda Fleming; sister, Darlene McMann; and brother-in-law, Barry Bakewell.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, September 17, 2022, at Holy Redeemer Lutheran Church, 4538 Dryden Rd, Dryden, MI 48428, at 11:00 a.m. Pastor Evan Veen will officiate.

Memorials are suggested to the family.
